TaipeiPLAS 2026 opens to power the next era of plastics manufacturing
Co-organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), TaipeiPLAS 2026 opened today at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1, running through September 19. Under the slogan “Form to Future,” the show centers on Smart Manufacturing, Innovative Materials, and Sustainability & Circular Economy. Featuring more than 350 exhibitors across 1,360 booths, the show highlights innovations throughout the entire plastics and rubber supply chain.
Industry Leaders Gather for TaipeiPLAS 2026
Jong-Chin Shen, Senior Advisor to the President, Office of the President R. O. C., Ching-Yun Huang, Economic Counselor of the International Trade Administration (TITA), joined TAITRA Chairman C. F. Huang; TAMI Vice Chairman Wei Kun-Chih; and Alan Wang, Chairman of the Plastics and Rubber Machinery Committee, to officially open TaipeiPLAS 2026, marking an important milestone for the industry.
TAITRA Chairman James C. F. Huang noted that global competitiveness is no longer defined by production volume alone, but by the ability to create greater value through smart manufacturing, material innovation, and resource circulation. Citing Taiwan’s recycling of discarded nylon fishing nets into eyewear frames, he pointed out how circular innovation can convert waste materials into new valuable applications.
TAMI Vice Chairman Wei Kun-Chih also delivered remarks at the opening ceremony, sharing his expectations for the show and the industry. Alan Wang, Chairman of TAMI’s Plastics and Rubber Machinery Committee, highlighted the challenges posed by geopolitical shifts, tariff policies, and global competition. He emphasized the importance of innovative materials in driving industry advancement and high-value applications, along with digitalization and automation to enhance efficiency and competitiveness.
Global Market Reach and High-value Applications
From January to August 2026, Taiwan’s exports of plastics and rubber machinery totaled US$458 million. Taiwanese manufacturers continue to leverage their strengths in precision manufacturing, customization, and flexible production. This year’s exhibition extends to high-tech sectors, such as aerospace, drones, robotics, automotive, and healthcare.
Event Highlights and Sustainability Initiatives
TaipeiPLAS 2026 features the TaipeiPLAS Forum, TaipeiPLAS Award, and Plastic Market Insights. On September 16, the Forum session “Circular Materials: Technological Breakthroughs & Value Transformation” will address how circular materials and technology innovation can strengthen supply chain resilience amid geopolitical and raw material challenges.
Debuting this year, the Care About Tomorrow Pavilion brings plastics innovation into everyday life through five lifestyle settings, covering design, usage, recycling, and regeneration. A reusable cup rental service will also put waste reduction and reuse into practices on-site.
