Asia to account for 50% of composites use; JEC into its 7th year

The global composites industry should grow at 6% a year in the future, with Asia representing 50% of the global growth. “In 2013, in volume, the Asia Composites market counted for 4.1 million tonnes out of the global 8.2 million tonnes, i.e. 50% of the world production” says Frédérique Mutel, composites industry organisation, JEC’s Group President/CEO.

It is against this backdrop that the seventh edition of the annual JEC Asia Composites Show and Conferences will held from 17-19 November at Suntec, Singapore.

Mutel went on to say, “JEC Asia was launched in 2008 to meet the needs of the composites industry in this ever-evolving market that is Asia Pacific. Thanks to our local partners and our teams, especially our team based in Singapore, we are able to provide both the composites community and also, end-users looking for light materials with a tailored-made event dedicated to the specifics of this market.”

Along with the exhibiting area, the event proposes an “exhibition within the exhibition”. Innovative composites products and parts from all over the world will be presented. As usual, the show will propose numerous events and services: the Posters Area, the Demo Zone, the Innovation Awards session, Business Meetings, a job centre, the endorsing magazine and an information web portal, networking operations for exhibitors, for Aerospace with Aero Leadership Circle, for the Young Generation with a special Award plus a high-level conference programme at the Innovative Composites Summit (I.C.S.) mainly focusing on Carbon, Aero and Oil & Gas.

The I.C.S. will offer a programme of five conferences this year, as a renewed partnership with Technische Universität München, TUM Asia and Universität Stuttgart. This continuing partnership guarantees the quality of papers and speakers from academic and industrial backgrounds.

Delegations are confirmed from the region (India, Japan, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, etc.).

Moreover, during JEC Europe 2014 last March, JEC Group signed a Memorandum Of Understanding with the Korean Carbon cluster KCTECH, sealing their collaboration and mutual support on JEC events and in particular JEC Asia.

In 2014, the platform will showcase pavilions from the main countries of the region (Singapore, Thailand, South Korea) and collective booths from America and the European Union.

Players within the Asian Composites industry can benefit from three international trends:

1. Global growth driven by final market applications. In Asia, Building & Construction, Transportation, EEE (Electric Electronics Equipment).

2. Innovation breakthrough at global level: R&D and innovation drive further the penetration of composites relatively to traditional materials.

3. Manufacturing and sourcing footprint. As shown during JEC Asia, the prevailing concern is the automation of production.
