Austrian machinery, auxiliary equipment and robot maker Wittmann is expanding its production facilities in Austria. Following commissioning of the new assembly hall for large machines in April last year, Wittmann Battenfeld in Kottingbrunn, Lower Austria, is now increasing its capacity for the production of large machines by a further hall to house a machining centre for platens. And now construction work is about to begin on a new Wittmann materials handling facility in Wolkersdorf, near Vienna.
Wittmann says a rising order book in all product ranges has created a need for more production space.
The new materials handling facility is positioned not far from the Viennese headquarter of the group, in the ecoplus business park Wolkersdorf in Lower Austria. The vacated ground floor in Vienna will now be used by the robots department. Construction work at the new site begins this month with completion envisaged for September 2015.
The building footprint is a total of 23,500 sq m, thus allowing for further growth in the future. The location’s transport connection is excellent – for the close network of Central European interstate links as well as for public transport.
After completion, the Wolkersdorf facility will initially provide 5.200 sq m of new production floor space together with 1,200 sq m of office floor space. The concept of the building is based on the planning that was done for the new German Wittmann facilities in Nuremberg and Meinerzhagen, created just a few years ago.
