Amcor sets up plant in the Philippines

Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific (AFAP), a global manufacturer of flexible packaging solutions is putting up a multi-million dollar factory in the Philippines. The new plant, which will produce high-performance packaging for a leading multinational consumer brand, is expected to start up by 2016.

AFAP, which is a unit of Australia-based Amcor Limited, has 38 factories spread across eight countries, to date.

According to Amcor, this is its second Greenfield project for the year; In its pipeline is a packaging site in Jakarta, Indonesia, and some US$3bn worth of potential acquisitions The company has also recently completed a several acquisitions in the Asia Pacific region, including Indonesia-basedBella Prima Packaging’s flexibles business; a fifth Indian packaging plant; two Chinese flexibles plants from the Shenda Group; and Australia’s Detmold Flexibles.
