Bandera opens R&D Centre at Italian HQ

Italian extrusion machinery maker, Bandera launched its new R&D Centre, in conjunction with PLAST2015 and during Expo, on 8 May, with an opening ceremony held at Busto Arsizio.

The President of Lombardy Region Roberto Maroni, the Prefect of Varese district Giorgio Zanzi, the Mayor of Busto Arsizio Gianluigi Farioli, together with the owners Piero and Franco Bandera and some representatives of the staff, cut the inauguration ribbon of the new area located inside the historic headquarters centuries-old park of Bandera.

A 3.000 sq m area is dedicated to the R&D, with annexed offices’ building to host customers and the possibility to organise in-house workshops and open houses.

Bandera’s industry milestones include its EUR4 million investment, over EUR70 million revenue in 2014 and an annual growing trend of 5% for 2015-2017 period, with 90% of its business volume being well-established on foreign markets; 170 employees and a growing employment rate.

It also continuous to promote sustainable technology and industrial processes aimed at granting the lowest energy consumption, at facilitating recycled or biodegradable materials processing and at reducing packaging weight.

Customers and partners from Asia, North and South America, India and Europe could visit the centre which, according to Bandera, represents the heart of the ‘made in Italy’ technological excellence.

In the new R&D area Bandera displayed:

  • 1 line for 7-layer blown film co-extrusion for thermo-lamination and also for barrier-film flexible packaging;
  • 2 lines equipped with flat die technology for the production of PET, PLA and PP rigid or semi-expanded film for thermoformed rigid packaging and Form-Fill-Seal industry.
