As Asia’s largest plastics and rubber event, Chinaplas has to keep growing. Running its 28th edition in Shanghai from 23-26 April, this year’s fair attracted 130,370 visitors during the four days, which was up 14.26% compared with last year’s show in the southern part of China in Guangzhou. This is also a new record since the show first debuted in 1983, according to Hong Kong-based organiser Adsale Exhibition Services.
Meanwhile, as the second largest show in the world for the plastics sector, after the triennial K show in Düsseldorf, Germany, Chinaplas has become more international. Thus, the number of overseas visitors went up by 19.73% to 36,841, accounting for 28.26% of total visitors.
The overseas visitors came from 143 countries, mainly from Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Russia. The number of domestic visitors maintained a strong figure of 93,529, up by 12.24%, over the previous show.
Besides, Chinaplas also marks new records in terms of exhibition scale and number of exhibitors, says Adsale. This year, over 3,000 exhibitors from 39 countries and regions participated in the show, of which over 400 were new to the show. In addition to occupying all 17 exhibition halls in Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC), 13 additional outdoor halls and 6 exhibition suites were also set up at the Central Square of SNIEC to cope with the number of exhibitors, resulting in a total exhibition area over 220,000 sq m for this year. This was about 10% more than the previous show held in Shanghai in 2012.
In line with the rotation of the show, the 29th edition of Chinaplas will be held from 20-23 May, 2015 at China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou.
