KraussMaffei Berstorff offers new extruder for the South American profile market

German machinery supplier KraussMaffei Berstorff launches the KMD 90 XS/P twin-screw extruder to cater to the increasing demands of the profile industry in South America.

The Hanover-based firm will be showcased the new machine at Feiplastic held 20 to 24 May at Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Bruno Sommer, Director of Extrusion Technology at the Brazilian subsidiary of the KraussMaffei Group said that the counter-rotating twin-screw extruder from the XS series is ideally suited to the Brazilian market’s demand for gutter profiles.

"Our machines provide producers with excellent process stability.Thin-walled profiles can also be manufactured very cost-effectively and economically. Thanks to a balanced price-performance ratio, the processor obtains a suitable profit margin, “ said Sommer.

The XS series features excellent wear resistance. The processing unit with the molybdenum-welded screws and a deep-nitrated barrel is suitable for processing regrind, recyclates and mixtures with higher chalk proportions. The company says that wear resistance plays a special role in formulations which are used very often in gutter production in particular.

The twin-screw extruder can also be used to produce window profiles or ceiling profiles.
