South Korea’s biennial plastics show, Koplas, opened on Tuesday 10 March, framed by a picture postcard view of bright blue sunny skies, but the cold winds and temperatures of -6°C were quite unusual for the spring weather.
Weather aside, the organiser Korea E&Ex had plenty to smile about as the show has grown in size. Koplas had 427 exhibitors from 25 countries and a total floor space of 21,384 sq m at the Kintex exhibition centre in Goyang. Held for five days from 10-14 March, the show is co-located with Intermold Korea and Heating, Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration and Fluid Exhibition (Harfko), to cover a total space of 76,000 sq m, 1,000 exhibitors and 3,900 booths, making it 30% larger than Koplas 2013.
The first day of the show had fewer visitors, according to some exhibitors familiar with Koplas, probably due to the colder weather. But the organiser expects a better turn-out over the weekend.
Below is a pictorial showcase of some of the highlights from Koplas.
