Piovan subsidiary FDM moves to new facility in Germany

Germany-based FDM, a company which Italian auxiliary equipment provider Piovan Group acquired in 2010, has moved to a new production facility located in Troisdorf - North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - inside the industrial park called " Airport Gewerbepark Junkersring".

The new production space of 1,900 sq m, twice the former building in Koenigswinter, allows for possible future expansions, as the new factory stands on a total space of 6,000 sq m. With this move, FDM, a supplier of material handling solutions for the extrusion process, says it will be able to improve both its engineering services and systems supply, by reducing the lead times and leveraging further capacity to handle increased volumes.

"This investment is evidence of a company on the move strategically investing in people, tools and equipment to produce feeding systems for pellets, recycled materials and powder, gravimetric dosing systems, complete material handling systems for the PVC treatment, recycling and compounds", says FDM.

Guido Faust, FDM General Manager commented: "This expansion of our production site is driven by two basic assets to us: the unwavering commitment to meeting our customers' needs and the people who work with us, whose knowledge and skills are at the base of our continuous development. This new production facility is the result of our efforts to further optimise the manufacturing activities, by concentrating them on a higher performance factory, so to guarantee increased productivity, efficiency and sustainability. Moreover, the new plant, designed according environmentally sustainable criteria, will ensure a better working environment for our personnel".
