Kiefel sets up R&D centre in Thailand
Germany-based thermoforming machinery maker Kiefel recently opened its new Customer Innovation Centre (CIC) at the Brückner Group Asia-Pacific site in Rayong, Thailand. The modern technology hub significantly expands Kiefel’s presence in Southeast Asia and Oceania, offering more than just service: from traditional support like tool maintenance to development projects, feasibility studies, process and machine testing, and live demonstrations – all on-site, it adds.
Equipped with thermoforming machines for polymer and fibre-based products – including a Speedformer KMD 78 Smart and a Natureformer KFT Lab – the CIC, covering approximately 350 sq m, offers ideal conditions for hands-on technology and product development, the company says.
"With this new centre, we’re delivering clear added value to our customers in Southeast Asia: local proximity, personal support, and direct access to our global technology expertise – all under one roof," emphasised Matthias Sieverding, CEO of Kiefel.
The R&D centre is part of Kiefel’s strategy to combine global engineering with strong regional presence. Customers benefit from a broader range of local services – from co-development and prototyping to customized test runs – all supported by local experts and modern infrastructure.
During the opening event, attendees gained insights into selected applications, including live thermoforming demos with polymer and fibre materials, digital control systems, and service innovations.
