France-headquartered Bluestar Silicones, a global integrated silicones supplier, said that it is supporting select long-term implant applications as part of its strategy to expand its presence in the global healthcare market.
Its new facility in York, S.C., will be the global centre of excellence for the company’s implant-grade liquid silicone rubber (LSR), high consistency rubber (HCR) and room temperature vulcanised (RTV) rubber, it said. Moreover, as part of its global growth strategy, Bluestar Silicones has made a significant investment in North America with the 2012 opening of the York facility. The investment includes state-of-the-art clean rooms and enhanced systems to ensure the highest level of quality.
The company relocated its Ventura, California and Rock Hill, S.C., operations to this 226,000 sq ft facility.
According to the firm, the new facility will catapult its ten-year strategic plan to position itself as a significant silicones player in the North American market and the global healthcare market.
In December 2013, Bluestar Silicones achieved certification under the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) after three rigorous external audits. This system ensures all processes and procedures are documented, executed and tested on an ongoing basis..
