Fudi, Magnetti Morelli on jv for auto lighting in China
The Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting division and Chinese investment firm Changchun Fudi Equipment Technology Development Co Ltd, have signed entered into a joint venture (JV), Changchun Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting System, for the production and sale of automotive lighting systems.
With this deal, 60% of the jv firm will be owned by Automotive Lighting Reutlingen and 40% by Fudi.
Since 2012, Italy-based Magneti Marelli and Fudi have been partners in manufacturing powertrain components.
The new business’ industrial facilities will be located in the Xin Xing Industrial Park of the Economic and Technological Development Zone of Changchun, Jilin Province. Expected to be set up within Q1 2016, the jv firm will be producing automotive lighting systems based on halogen, xenon and LED technologies for carmakers, particularly in the northeast of China. Production is expected to start in Q1 2017.
