Sun Chemical partners with Mark Andy for US web expansion

US-based printing inks and pigments producer Sun Chemical and printing and label solutions company Mark Andy have entered into a strategic agreement under which Mark Andy Print Products (MAPP) will distribute Sun Chemical's inks, coatings, adhesives, and color management solutions for the North American narrow web tag and label market.

The expanded portfolio includes UV, UV LED, water-based, and specialty technologies such as SolarFlex Max D, SolarWave, AquaVerse, SolarLam UV laminating adhesives, and SunLam solvent-free adhesives.

The partnership aims to give converters a single source for pressroom consumables and technical expertise while supporting their growing use of flexible packaging applications such as pouches, sachets, stick packs, bags, and shrink sleeves. Sun Chemical will also provide expertise in low-migration chemistry, coatings, laminating adhesives, curing, substrates, and regulatory requirements.

The companies will combine Sun Chemical's SunColorBox colour management system with MAPP's Color Smart Program to improve colour consistency across presses and production facilities. They also plan to introduce ink dispensing technologies at selected locations and collaborate on high-speed flexographic applications, including low-migration inks and curing at higher press speeds.
