US/Indian firm Sintex-Wausaukee Composites (SWC), a subsidiary of Sintex Industries Ltd, a manufacturer of structural plastics and textiles based in Kalol, India, has set up a fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) production cell for OEM manufacture in Pune. The cell is located at a plant operated by sister company Bright Autoplast. SWC manufactures composite components for the truck and tractor, mass transit, medical imaging, recreation, corrosion-resistant materials handling industries and other markets.
The cell is the first implementation of a global supply initiative developed from SWC's Special Projects Vehicle (SPV) group. It has been designed to deliver composite solutions for global manufacturing and support the expansion of the company’s global manufacturing initiative. “SWC made a significant financial and technological commitment to bring our light resin transfer moulding (LRTM) manufacturing to India," said SWC President/CEO Ed Trueman.
He also said that with the new line, the firm will be able to serve the growing demands of its multi-national customers.
Sintex has manufacturing operations in the US, Europe, Africa, and India.
