IMCD buys Paceco S’pore and ties up with Solvay for distributorship

Dutch distributor of speciality chemicals IMCD Group has acquired Singapore-based Paceco Industrial Supplies, a distributor for engineering and speciality plastics. Established in 1985, the company is active in Singapore, China and Malaysia and currently employs 28 staff who will all transfer to IMCD. George Chong, one of the company’s two founders, will remain the Managing Director.

IMCD’s latest acquisition demonstrates the importance of China and Southeast Asia in its growth and development strategy. Albert Stevens, Vice President Asia for IMCD Group, comments: “We are delighted to have Paceco on board. They have built up their business through focus on specialities thus creating a strong network and gaining considerable industry experience. This new deal will greatly complement our plastics business in China and will provide a platform for further expansion in Southeast Asia.”

With stock in Singapore, Malaysia and China as well as a goal to provide the best standard of service to the plastics industry in China and Southeast Asia, Paceco represents some of the most highly regarded producers in this region. The company offers a wide range of engineering and speciality plastic materials to industries including electronics/electrical, connectors, electronic packaging, food packaging, medical device, home appliances, consumer goods, toys, building, wire & cable, automotive, aerospace and military.

In July, IMCD Group entered into a Pan-European distribution partnership with Solvay Specialty Polymers for its Tecnoflon FKM product range used in the rubber industry. The market segments covered include automotive, aerospace, energy and oil & gas, where high purity and long service life are essential.

According to Solvay, its decision to appoint IMCD Group as the Pan-European distributor for the FKM range was based on the necessity for comprehensive technical expertise in order to effectively promote and sell into this specialised market. “IMCD Group was therefore seen as the right partner based on its in-depth industry knowledge as well as its recruitment, development and retention of the highest calibre technical sales people. The decision will in turn enable Solvay to place greater focus on key accounts, to commit to improve its market share and to strengthen application development.”

With a turnover of EUR1.4 billion, IMCD has a team of 1,250 people in 39 countries.
