Chinese polyurethanes producer Yantai Wanhua Group, is investing 11.7 billion yuan in a new petrochemical integrated project sited in Lingang Industrial Zone of Yantai Economic and Technological Development zone. The new petrochemical complex will include million tonnes of ethylene cracking and related downstream products including polyolefins, resins.

The project, touted as the largest ethylene production in Shandong, is designed to produce 1 million tonnes ethylene per year, using Wanhua’s self-supplied C2 and outsources propane or butane as feedstock. Ethylene supply is mainly distributed to six downstream facilities including 400kt/year PVC, 60kt/year EO, 350kt/year HDPE, 450kt/year LLDPE, 300/650kt/year PO/SM swing, and 80kt/year butadiene. Wanhua said it is also building other supporting public works and auxiliary production facilities.

The project is listed in the National Petrochemical Industry Development plan, and has been submitted to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) for examination and approval.
