SCG Chemicals rolls out ASEAN's first-of-its-kind 100% recycled plastic skincare packaging
Thai integrated petrochemical and polymers company, SCG Chemicals (SCGC) recently launched 100% recycled plastic packaging for skincare products, a first of its kind in ASEAN. This packaging, made from High-Quality Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) resin, is certified to international standards under the SCGC Green Polymer brand.
The company has been collaborating with various business partners and global brands like Unilever, Sunlight, and Comfort to advance green polymer packaging solutions.
In partnership with Unilever Thailand, SCGC has taken concrete steps toward reducing plastic waste by using post-consumer plastic waste from households. This waste is transformed into High-Quality PCR HDPE Resin, used for eco-friendly packaging. According to SCGC, these recycled packaging materials maintain the same quality, texture, and scent as their non-recycled counterparts, proving that sustainability and quality can go hand in hand.
Furthering their partnership, SCGC and Unilever have also developed a new type of bottle cap for Sunlight dishwashing liquid, made from High-Quality PCR Polypropylene (PP) Resin. This innovation is part of SCGC’s broader "Low Waste, Low Carbon" strategy, which aims to drive both environmental and economic sustainability.
