German chemical company Oxea has announced that after a construction period of approximately one year it has successfully started up its new unit “Ester 2” for the production of speciailty esters in Oberhausen. This new facility will boost Oxea’s production capacity for specialty esters by over 50%. Oxea is currently producing speciality esters in three units worldwide, with a fourth being under construction in China.
The speciality esters product range consists of phthalate-free and non-VOC Oxsoft products such as 3G8, DOA, GPO, TOTM Duo 1 and Duo 2 as well as 3NG810 und Oxfilm 351. Oxea supplies these products to customers operating in growth sectors in medical technology, food cling wraps, the automotive industry and architecture, among others.
Oxea is a global manufacturer of oxo intermediates and oxo derivatives, such as alcohols, polyols, carboxylic acids, specialty esters, and amines. These products are used for the production of high-quality coatings, lubricants, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, flavorings and fragrances, printing inks and plastics. In 2011, Oxea generated revenue of about EUR1.5 billion with its 1,365 employees in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
