Plastindia postponed from 2021 to 2022

Plastindia postponed from 2021 to 2022

India’s Plastindia 2021 show, the 11th edition that was originally scheduled to be held in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan from 4-9 February 2021, has been postponed by one year and will now be held from 17-21 February 2022 at Pragati Maidan, according to a letter posted on the website by Plastindia Foundation President Jigish Doshi and its National Executive Council Chairman Ajay Shah.

The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, subsequent health and safety concerns and future uncertainty were cited as reasons for the show to be postponed by a year. India's tally of Covid-19 infections has continued to surge with almost 100,000 new cases detected in the past 24 hours, taking the total to around 4.6 million, and a death toll of around 78,000.

Plastindia, held every three years, had been held at Pragati Maidan in Delhi for many years and was moved to a spanking new exhibition hall in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for the last few shows. It was to move back to New Delhi in the newly reconstructed Pragati Maidan exhibition centre in February 2021.

Expressing regret at the inconvenience caused by the postponement to the exhibitors and other stakeholders, the letter refers interested exhibitors to the www.plastindia.org website for participation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) from 1 October 2020. The SOPs, based on the government of India guidelines, have been set out for the re-opening of exhibitions given the pandemic.

As stated on the website, the 2018 show had 1,800 exhibitors, with 550 foreign exhibitors from 44 countries, and around 2 million visitors.
