Food items such as crisps and snacks, bakery products, cookies and crackers that need to stay fresh for longer periods can benefit from ExxonMobil Chemical’s new vacuum-metallised, high barrier oriented polypropylene (OPP) film with a proprietary sealant layer that provides an excellent barrier to oxygen, moisture and light.
Metallyte 70 MET-HB2 film has enhanced barrier performance that makes it well-suited to vertical form fill seal (VFFS) and horizontal form fill seal (HFFS) packaging applications that keep the contents fresh for extended periods.
"With Metallyte 70 MET-HB2 film as the inner web of a lamination, the overall package barrier is similar to that achieved with converter-applied EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol) coextruded laminations, but the cost is less," said John Charbonneau, product manager, ExxonMobil Chemical.
The film maintains stable, craze-resistant barrier performance throughout the extrusion and adhesive lamination processes, and across the entire chain of use. It features a vacuum-deposited aluminium layer that provides a brilliant foil appearance and delivers an excellent lap seal range, seal integrity, and hot tack when used with a sealable coextruded outer web.
