Compounding facility in Indonesia

Taking advantage of the growing Indonesian economy (at 6% a year), Japanese firm Toray Industries is setting up a new resin compounding base in the country, with a capacity of 6,000 tonnes/year, to produce PBT and nylon.

The firm’s subsidiary PT Indonesia Toray Synthetics (ITS) will run the facility, which will be the first resin compounding base by an engineering plastic manufacturer in Indonesia. ITS also has a nylon polymerisation facility.

Toray will invest approximately 600 million yen in the facility, which is expected to start operation in November 2013.

The firm says its facility will demand in volume for engineering plastics in the country, which is expected to grow at an annualised pace of about 9% from 21,000 tonnes/year in 2011 to 45,000 tonnes by 2020.
