Davis-Standard acquires thermoforming machinery

US-based extrusion/converting machinery maker Davis-Standard has acquired Thermoforming Systems LLC (TSL) of Yakima, Washington. TSL designs, manufactures and markets thermoforming equipment to the North American food packaging industry. With this acquisition, Davis-Standard will be able to provide the whole solution, from sheet processing to thermoforming, to its customers. Terms were not disclosed.

“TSL is the market leader in thermoforming equipment technology for high volume packaging and we are excited to welcome their dedicated team to Davis-Standard today,” said Jim Murphy, Davis-Standard President/CEO. Murphy added “We are enthusiastic about this opportunity with TSL, as we share core values and a focus on our customers, technology and product innovation.”

James Naughton, President of Thermoforming Systems LLC, remarked on transaction: “Davis-Standard has a long-standing reputation as the global leader in extrusion technology and was our preferred partner to work with,” he said. “We are very pleased to join an organization that shares our business principles, and together with Davis-Standard, TSL looks to deepen its commitment to our customers and employees. TSL will continue to operate and serve its customers as before and we are enthusiastic about our unique product opportunities with Davis-Standard.”

This year also, Davis-Standard, which is owned by ONCAP, the mid-market private equity platform of Toronto-based investment firm Onex, acquired Brampton Engineering, the Canada-headquartered provider of multi-layer AeroFrost air blown and AquaFrost water quenched film systems, film winding and other solutions.

Last year, Davis-Standard added on Maillefer International of Finland and Switzerland to its portfolio. Maillefer specialises in wire, cable, pipe and tube production technologies.

Davis-Standard designs and manufactures extrusion systems, feedscrews, barrels and process controls for the flexible web converting, plastics processing and rubber industries. The company manufactures extruders and extrusion processing equipment for blown and cast film, blow moulding, compounding/pelletising, extrusion coating/laminating, pipe/profile/tubing extrusion and more.
