Versalis and Montello to develop a new range of plastic products out of recycled packaging

Italian chemical producer, Versalis (Eni), and Montello S.p.A., an Italian company focused on post-consumer plastic recovery and recycling technologies are jointly developing a new range of polyethylene (PE) products made from recycled packaging.

Advances in consolidated technological and commercial expertise in the PE industry has enabled the two companies to develop a range of products that can contain up to 70% of post-consumer plastic. The range largely aims to meet the demands of the packaging and agricultural sectors, two of the main market applications of this material.

The new developments are created in partnership with Montello laboratories and the Versalis Research Centre in Mantua through an innovative process. Industrial tests have already been carried out by client companies, resulting in positive feedback.

The agreement also provides for the development of new processes to create highly sustainable products that will satisfy the performance demands required by the market, and in realisation of developing circular economy solutions, commented Daniele Ferrari, CEO of Versalis and Roberto Sancinelli, Chairman of Montello.
