HMC Polymers to construct fourth PP plant in Rayong

HMC Plant

Thailand based polypropylene (PP) manufacturer, HMC Polymers is planning to construct a fourth PP plant at its Map Ta Phut site, Rayong Province Thailand, bringing its total PP capacity to over 1 million tonnes and maintaining position as Southeast Asia’s largest PP producer.

Further, HMC has entered into a License Agreement with PP Technology provider LyondellBasell, and has now completed the process design of the most advanced Spherizone plant in the history of this superior technology.

Launched in 2004, Spehrizone is LyondellBasell’s breakthrough PP process technology. According to LyondellBasell, Spherizone is a multi-zone circulating reactor process that provides an economical and efficient method of manufacturing a wide range of high-quality PP and novel, propylene-based polyolefinic resins.

The new HMC plant will produce approximately 220 ktpa of specialty PP resins, targeting both consumer and industrial markets, and is expected to start-up in first half of 2022.
