Milliken files patent suit against China’s GCH Technology

US materials firm Milliken & Company has filed a complaint in China against GCH Technology Co., a speciality chemicals company headquartered in Guangzhou. The complaint seeks to stop GCH from making and selling certain clarifying agents and non-dusting blends that infringe Milliken’s Chinese patents.

The complaint was filed by Milliken with the Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property (IP) Office, which has docketed it for action and conducted preliminary inspections of GCH’s facilities to gather evidence for its investigation. Milliken is considering and will take further appropriate actions to seek all possible remedies under Chinese law.

“Milliken has built a solid global reputation for ongoing innovation in polymer additives by developing unique, patented products that are second to none,” said Allen Jacoby, Vice President, Plastic Additives. “We have broad intellectual property coverage for clarifying agents, nucleating agents and the co-additives that enhance them. Our company is committed to vigorously defending our IP and innovations that ultimately will bring benefit to our customers in China and around the world.”
