KraussMaffei Berstorff poised to build new plant in Hanover-Laatzen

KraussMaffei Berstorff to build new plant

German machinery supplier KraussMaffei Berstorffis planning to build a new plant for extrusion technology. Last month, the company signed a rental contract with committee reservation with VGP, a European project developer for commercial real estate, for an approximately 55,000 sq m production hall and office complex. Completion of the plant on the 80,000 sq m area in the Laatzen / RethenOst business park is expected by end of 2022. The new location will have a state-of-the-art Tech Centre, production and office facilities, and provide space for up to 750 employees.

The new company headquarters will feature an Innovation Centre with state-of-the-art extrusion technology, to enable demanding and intricate extrusion experiments to be carried out on different systems under realistic production conditions, KraussMaffei Berstorff said. More than twenty state-of-the-art machines ranging from a small laboratory system through to a production machine will be available. There will also be special emphasis on the demonstration of technology for processing plastic waste to create new materials for use.

In Laatzen, KraussMaffei Berstorff will set up a smart factory with continuously networked production and data processing in real time, visualised processes and data evaluation. Furthermore, in production it will be possible to sustainably increase efficiency with the use of ultra-modern machine tools, and thus reduce the throughput times for the manufacture of extrusion components, as well as optimise delivery deadlines, according to KraussMaffei Berstorff.
