Chinaplas 2021 moves to Shenzhen; schedules new dates in April

Italian machinery makers expect negative results for 2019

Asia’s largest plastics show and the second largest show in the world, Chinaplas 2021, will have new show dates and will be held from 13-16 April next year, instead of the month of May. The new dates were scheduled to avoid overlapping with the triennially-held NPE 2021 show in Florida, US, said the US Plastics Industry Association. The 2021 NPE show will be held from 17-21 May in 2021.

Meanwhile, Chinaplas organiser Adsale has also said that the show will be held in Shenzhen at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre (SWECC), instead of Guangzhou, to allow for a larger participation of exhibitors.

Traditionally, Chinaplas has rotated between Shanghai and Guangzhou, and is now is being moved to the much larger SWECC venue. Last year’s Chinaplas show in Guangzhou set a new record for the show with 3,600 exhibitors and 163,300 visitors. This year Chinaplas will be held in Shanghai and it will rotate back to Shanghai in 2022.

Plastics Industry Association President/CEO Tony Radoszewski said, "Chinaplas and NPE share the same goal of providing a venue where the global plastics industry can come together, network, and grow. The Plastics Industry Association and NPE: The Plastics Show have long enjoyed a positive, mutually-beneficial relationship with Chinaplas and its producer, Adsale. Chinaplas’ decision and capability to move their show dates so that they don’t overlap with NPE2021 and move their show venue to a region with new market opportunities amount to a big win for both our organisations, our events, and for the global plastics industry as a whole. We thank and congratulate the Adsale and Chinaplas team for making this shift and look forward to many more years of a mutually-beneficial relationship that promotes growth in plastics around the globe.”

Chinaplas 2020 will be held in Shanghai from 21-24 April with more than 3,900 exhibitors and 180,000 visitors expected.
