Bekum to expand US facility

German blow moulding machine maker Bekum recently celebrated recently three anniversaries – 60 years Bekum in Berlin Germany, 50 years Bekum in Traismauer Austria und 40 years Bekum in Williamston, US. 

As part of the celebrations at the American location, the company also held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of production capacities last year. The expansion includes the addition of a new building with a production area of 3,700 sq m and almost 700 sq m of office space. This increases the site's operational area to more than 15,000 sq m.

Michael Mehnert, Managing Partner, said: “My father founded this company 60 years ago. Today I’m standing here and lay the foundation for a new production hall in order to be able to serve the continuously increasing demand in the US in the future!”

Bekum America was established in 1979 introduce blow moulding machinery, designed to produce plastic bottles, containers and other large plastic parts in the North American marketplace, via blending German design and technology with American skill, says Bekum. Its customer base includes large multi-national customers, as well as owner/operator plastic bottle manufacturers.

Bekum says it has has delivered/installed 18,000 machines worldwide, about half of them still in use, claiming it has achieved by far the largest production of blow moulding machines of any brand. It serves 100 countries around the world directly or through representatives and has 350 employees at three locations in Europe, Traismauer (Austria) und Williamston (US).
