PO pipe line first in Vietnam
V ietnamese pipe producer Tien Phong Plastic has become the first in Asia to use Austrian Battenfeld-Cincinnati's latest KryoSys pipe line for large diameter PO pipe extrusion.
It recently held an open house, at its Haiphong facility, where it demonstrated the 1,200 mm GreenPipe extrusion line with a maximum output of 1,400 kg/hour, producing pipes for water & sewage applications with a wall thickness of 57.2 mm. This was followed by technical presentations illustrating the process and materials, presented by Tien Phong, its partners Battenfeld-Cincinnati and Borouge, as well as Mitsubishi.
The showcased GreenPipe extrusion line consists of the Monos+ 90-37D single-screw extruder with an AC motor, KryoS 63-1200 pipe head, a CE 30 co-extruder for colour stripes and downstream equipment for pipe sizes up to 1,200 mm: two vacStream 6 m single chamber vacuum tanks, two coolStream 6 m cooling baths, a pullStream haul-off with 10 caterpillars and a cutStream swarfless planetary cutting unit.
The Austrian machine company says its internal melt and pipe cooling system KryoSys, first introduced in 2008, enables a reduction in cooling length of almost 50%, compared to a conventional extrusion line. Despite the remarkably short cooling length, sagging effects are substantially reduced due to the internal melt cooling already in the die head and the pipes produced showed measurements for ovality and thickness distribution well within the standard tolerance levels.
Set up in 1960, Tien Phong is a state-owned company and a leading producer of pipes and fittings made from u-PVC, HDPE and PP-R in Vietnam. In recent years, it has purchased several extrusion systems from Battenfeld-Cincinnati.
