PU foam plant in China
I n line with the growth of the automotive sector in China, Japan-based Bridgestone is investing US$11 million to build a plant to make moulded polyurethane foam for vehicle seats in Wuhan. The investment includes the cost of the building and equipment.
Bridgestone says it will be able to mass produce the foam parts by next year at the plant that will have a capacity of 300,000 sets/year of foam for car seats.
Spanning an area of 20,000 sq m and employing 80 staff, the plant will be operated by Bridgestone (Wuhan) Chemical Products, which was set up in 2010. This will be Bridgestone's second plant for making foam for vehicle seats in China. It also has a similar plant in Guangzhou.
