SCG invests in Asri
T hailand's Siam Cement Public Company's subsidiary SCG Chemicals is taking up a 30% stake in Indonesian chemical company PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical (CAP). It will pay Baht13.5 million for this.
SCG Chemicals is purchasing 23% of CAP shares from Apleton Investments, a subsidiary of Singapore investment group Temasek Holdings, while the other 7% is from PT Barito Pacific Tbk (Barito), a company listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange. Upon completion of the transaction Barito will remain the controlling shareholder of CAP.
CAP is the leading integrated petrochemical complex operator in Indonesia that had sales of US$1.86 billion in 2010. CAP produces polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), styrene monomer and various other olefins products. Its production facilities are located in Cilegon, a major coastal industrial city in the province of Banten, West Java, Indonesia.
