Total goes for more PS in China
Total Petrochemicals is expanding the capacity of its PS plant in Foshan, Guangdong Province. The project is scheduled to be on-stream by the end of 2010 and will bring the capacity to over 200,000 tonnes/year.
The new capacity will enable an almost doubling of sales compared with 2008 levels. The project will reinforce Total Petrochemicals' commercial position within the fast growing Chinese markets, especially the high end segments in South and Central China.
Total Petrochemicals supplies PS to the packaging, television, audio-visual, refrigerator and office automation equipment sectors.
In consequence, the feedstock for the plant from the company's joint venture, Samsung Total Petrochemicals, that has planned to expand its styrene monomer capacity, will increase.
