Phthalate-free plasticiser
L anxess has introduced a new plasticiser for polar rubber products crosslinked with sulphur. It is said to improve the low-temperature flexibility of vulcanisates and replaces phthalate-containing Vulkanol 81 in the Lanxess portfolio.
Vulkanol VP RUC 9210 is said to have a similar price-performance ratio compared to its predecessor; which was used to enhance the low-temperature flexibility of technical rubber products such as seals and hoses made from oil-resistant nitrile rubber. The speciality plasticiser was used in many cases to improve the processing properties of synthetic rubbers, for example, to minimise cycle times in the production of rubber products.
These tasks will now be performed by Vulkanol VP RUC without adapting the rest of the formulation components. As well as thio and carboxylic acid esters, the formulation for the previous plasticiser also contained DEHP. This is no longer used in the formulation for VP RUC.
