EVOH composites with barrier additive
O saka-based speciality resin maker Nippon Synthetic Chemical Industry (Nippon Gohsei) has entered into an exclusive global licensing agreement with Spanish company Nanobiomatters Industries for the use of its O2Block Barrier additive in EVOH composites. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
O2Block Barrier is Nanobiomatter's proprietary clay-based additive designed to improve the barrier properties of various polymers such as EVOH.
Nippon Gohsei will market the EVOH products using the additive under the SoarnoL NC series trade name. The Japanese company has had a joint development programme with Nanobiomatters over the past two years.
It is now in the sampling stage with the products and plans to commercialise them in 2012.
