PET film maker to expand
T
he world's fourth largest producer of thin PET film with facilities in India, Thailand and Turkey, Polyplex is investing US$13.2 million in a second thermal lamination film line at its Rayong facility in Thailand, to start up by 2013, the company said recently in its filing.Meanwhile, the company's operating results showed a lower profit of Baht251 million for the quarter ended 30 September 2011, a decrease of 67% compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This, it say, is a correction because of "the exceptionally high selling prices witnessed for PET films during Q2 of FY 2010-11. This had started getting corrected from Q1 due to the new supplies of PET films entering into the market. The decline in selling prices continued in Q2, coupled with an increase in the raw material prices, thereby significantly impacting the margins in the quarter under review."
