Sugarcane shortage not alarming

or the first time in 11 years, sugarcane production in Brazil fell flat this year due to bad weather and weak investments. Nevertheless, materials supplierBraskem believes that the current sugarcane shortage will not adversely affect its projects to produce renewable plastics from fermented sugars.The firm says it has established long-term feedstock supply contracts in Brazil. In 2010, the company announced the construction of a sugarcane ethanol-based PP plant with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes /year.
