Countdown begins for Chinaplas 2012
A mere two weeks from now, Asia's leading plastics and rubber trade fair will be opening its doors once again. Slated to happen in Shanghai New International Expo Centre from April 18 to 21, Chinaplas 2012 is expected to hit new high records this year. Covering a total area of 210,000 sq m, the show will feature about 100,000 visitors, over 70 technical seminars and 2,700 exhibitors originating from 35 countries.
Ada Leung, Adsales's assistant general manager called growth of the 2012 edition of the show "surprisingly high." In addition to all 17 exhibition halls in the east, west, and north wings of the fairground, the organizer will also set up exhibition halls at the central square to expand the machine and raw material exhibition areas. According to Leung, the influx of first-time exhibitors and overseas visitors contributed to the growth. They expect about 400 exhibitors will be running their maiden shows at the trade fair. Furthermore, more end user associations, key buyers and trade media are expected to participate and cover the event.
Aside from the presence of first timers, a number of prestigious enterprises will be unveiling their latest research and development achievements ranging from new materials, processing technologies to final applications. They include chemicals and raw materials suppliers like Du Pont, Sabic, Borouge, BASF, Bayer, Dow, ExxonMobil, Lanxess, etc.; machinery suppliers like Haitian, Chen Hsong, Husky, Borch, SHI, EDI, Fangli, Liansu, Jwell, Jinhai, Dailian, Totani, Demark, Akei, Matsui, Kawata, Wu Xi Yang Ming, etc.; and mould and die suppliers like Mold-Masters, Yudo, etc.
Seminars complement exhibition The overriding theme for the trade fair is "The Future is in Plastics and Rubber" with several special events and high-level conferences reinforcing the theme. Energy-saving, environmental protection, new alternative materials, and industry upgrades for the future will be the key topics to be discussed in these events. Among these will be the Future Zone, composed of two primary sections, Nurturing Our Future program and the Premium Design gallery. The former is a car future design competition whereas the latter is a display of plastic and rubber products with unique design elements.
To help visitors access show information and manoeuvre within the trade's overwhelming number of exhibitors, a new app can be downloaded. The mobile app enables smartphones running on Android or Apple to access information quickly. Furthermore, QR codes will be placed in strategic spots throughout the show. Visitors can just quickly scan the QR codes to get information. For those who are social media savvy, organisers have set up presence in Facebook, Twitter, and Weibo.
