Panasonic targets Japan for solar panels
P anasonic Malaysia will export a large part of its output from its RM1.84 billion solar panel factory in Kulim Hi-Tech Park in Kedah to Japan. The fully integrated solar panel factory is slated to begin production of solar wafers, cells and modules in December.
Meanwhile, with the government's announcement of the feed-in-tariff scheme, Panasonic is also looking at accelerating the sales of solar photovoltaic in Malaysia, especially in the residential segment.
The company is also in discussion with government-linked companies to supply solar panels for certain projects at the Iskandar project in Johore. Locally, Panasonic has a 18% market share in the consumer products industry and 38% share for home appliances.
