Packaging firm expands its reach
A ustralian packaging firm Amcor has bought Indian flexible packaging maker Uniglobe Packaging A$19.8 million and has also received approval to proceed with the acquisition of Australian compatriot Aperio for A$238 million.
Uniglobe generates about US$21 million in annual sales and serves large multinational customers in the food, personal care and health care end markets. Uniglobe began operating in 1999 from a single plant in Daman and in 2008, it built a second plant in Daman. Sales have grown 20% over the last three years. After closing Amcor's new combined Indian business will consist of five manufacturing sites.
The Aperio acquisition is expected to deliver significant benefits to customers in Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. Aperio has 13 manufacturing facilities across Australia and New Zealand and a modern facility in Thailand. The Group generates annual revenues of approximately A$350 million.
