Colouring up electronics
L aser Direct Structuring (LDS) materials supplier Mitsubishi Engineering-Plastics has introduced full colour grades for electronics applications, doing away with the traditional blacks and greys.
Mitsubishi has enhanced its Xantar PC and PC/ABS LDS portfolio to cover the complete colour spectrum allowing for design opportunities for customers in the aesthetic and function-driven application segments of mobile and smart phones, tablets and ultra-thin notebooks.
At the same time, Mitsubishi has extended its full colour range with new developments focused on specific performance and environmental demands.
Its LDS 3723 (PC/ABS) is specifically tailored to provide practical impact strength, enabling non-black coloured mobile phone housings or other hand-held telecom devices to pass the stringent industry drop or tumble tests.
Another Xantar grade, LDS 3733 (PC), supports flexible 3D-design possibilities for antennas with signal performance; a key element in the successful development of cutting-edge designs and features.
Mitsubishi says it works closely with customers to achieve a customised balance of properties such as laser and metallisation behaviour, radio frequency properties, mechanical properties, surface appearance and long term stability.
