Keyuan to build ABS plant in China
China's petrochemicals firm Keyuan Petrochemicals plans to start building a 400,000-tonne/year acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plant in Guangxi province, in February.
The company has signed a cooperation agreement with the Fangchenggang city government to build the plant at the Guangxi Keyuan New Materials Industrial Park. It did not state when the plant will start commercial operations.
Keyuan said it conducted "extensive" preliminary studies for the project over the past 12 months and selected this location because of its proximity to raw materials supplies, access to stable sources of power and skilled labor, and vast market potential.
It recently started up one of its production lines for its 70,000 tonne-year styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) plant after successful trials and testing in the fourth quarter of 2011.
