Indian processors to move to Dahej plastics park
I ndia's Ahmedabad city in Gujarat will be home to some 30 plastic manufacturers from Mumbai who will invest US$130 million in setting up in a plastic park coming up in Dahej. The companies are looking at saving costs by moving to Gujarat.
According to Manish Dedhia, secretary of the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA), Gujarat Industrial Development Corp allocated 200 acres for the first phase of the project and AIPMA is applying for a further 300 acres for future expansion.
He said that the capital expenditure is low as the land was acquired by the state government. With Dahej port is under development, the price of land is expected to rise ten-fold in a few years. The location is being eyed by large companies as industrial area in and around Mumbai has become saturated for expansions.
