Italian machine sales do better than expected
T
he Italian plastics and rubber machinery association Assocomaplast says the final figures for 2010 show a firm recovery, higher than expected in previous forecasts. It saw production value increase by more than 9%, which is higher than the 8% it forecast.
And while total exports for the sector increased by 10% compared with 2009, those for core machinery, like injection moulding presses, extrusion lines and blow moulding machines, achieved an average increase of 14%, while a 30% jump was posted by extrusion lines.
Regarding the main destination countries for exports, Germany ranked again at the top (10% more with respect to 2009, up to over EUR310 million) while China regained second position (up by 55% to EUR130 million).
The association has also started promoting the second European exhibition for next year, Plast 2012, which will take place at Fiera Milano from 8-12 May.
