Coperion scores in UAE

erman company Coperion landed the largest contract in its history, worth EUR100 million, in the fourth quarter of 2010. The contract, awarded by Abu Dhabi National Oil and Borealis joint venture Borouge, is to undertake the materials handling systems for the third expansion of a polyolefins plant in Ruwais, United Arab Emirates.
With this investment, Borouge will expand its polyolefins capacity by 2 million tonnes to 4.5 million tonnes/year. The new plants in Ruwais include two production lines each for the manufacture of PP and PE as well as a line for LDPE.
Coperion's scope of work includes the planning and all connected engineering services for the complete plant as well as the delivery of machines and key components for the handling, transport and warehousing of the bulk materials. The company will supply 20 km of pipes, more than 120 rotary valves, about 280 diverter valves and 220 filters in addition to two ZSK 380 high-performance extruders for compounding of PP.
Coperion has previously supplied two Borouge plants in 1999 and 2007.
