Electric alternative to hydraulic machine

G

erman injection moulding machinery maker Arburg introduced a new entry-level version of its Allrounder Alldrive line of all-electric machines recently at an open house it held at its headquarters at Lossburg.

The machine is available in four models, in 60, 100, 150 and 200 tonne clamping force. The machine is said to deliver energy savings of up to 50%, depending on throughput rate, compared to a conventional, two-pump hydraulic machine and up to 35% compared to the company's Allrounder Advance hydraulic machines with energy-optimised drives.

In the Edrive, which is suitable for the production of technical parts, the main axes for injection, dosing and mould opening and closing are servo-electrically driven as standard and therefore fully independent from one another. Fast acceleration and final speeds, as well as simultaneous movements reduce cycle times, leading to high cost efficiency, says the company.
