INJECTION MOULDING NEWS
L&T sold to Toshiba
Indian conglomerate Larsen & Toubro is selling its entire stake in injection moulding machine maker L&T Plastics Machinery to Japan-based Toshiba Machine. Terms were not disclosed. The divesture is in line with L&T’s strategy to exit non-core businesses and to rationalise its portfolio.
Injection moulding machine maker Toshiba Machine says the deal forms part of its strategy to expand globally with a focus on developing countries. The firm has units in Japan and China and is opening a facility in Thailand.
L&T was originally formed as a joint venture with Demag Ergotech in 2000, acquiring its partner’s stake in 2009. The machinery unit had sales of 206 crore with profit after tax of 11 crore in the fiscal year that ended in March.
