Compass to direct K highlights
To make it easier to look up more information on the K2010 show, to be held from 27 October-3 November in Germany, on the website (www.k-online.de), the organiser is launching an Innovation Compass, for what it says are the many new developments at the show.

It will be launched six weeks before the trade fair opens and will enable users to tailor their own visit to the show.

In developing the Compass, Messe Düsseldorf and the Exhibitors Council of K2010 are relying on support from organisations such as the newly set up Scientific Council made up of Prof. Dr. Volker Altstädt of Bayreuth University, Prof. Dr. Hartwig Höcker, Professor Emeritus of RWTH Aachen University, Prof. Dr. Matthias Rehahen of TU Darmstadt and Prof. Dr.-Ing Johannes Wortberg of Duisburg-Essen University.  Other organisations involved include PlasticsEurope Deutschland, the Plastics and Rubber Machinery Association within the VDMA, the Central Federation of the Plastics Processing Industries – GKV and the Association of the German Rubber Industry – WdK.

Themes that will be covered for raw materials/auxiliaries include optimisation of standard plastics and rubber, plastics made from renewable resources, plastics and rubber for lightweight structures, including foams, while the machinery/equipment segment will cover faster manufacturing processes and increased throughput.

Exhibitors at K2010 who have innovative contributions to make to the above main themes with their products, processes or applications may be included in the Innovation Compass, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their performance capability by posting selected exhibits.  Interested companies will describe their products and explain why they constitute innovations in relation to the associated theme.

Visitors to the show, meanwhile, will be able to gain insights into new developments in areas of importance to them.

Exhibiting companies are allowed to submit their entries from June, with the assurance that no contribution will be published before September.
