Expansions: Wevo sets up PU systems facility in Singapore; Alpla opens packaging solutions plant in Philippines
Adhesives and sealants manufacturer Wevo is expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region with a new production site in Singapore. Located in the Tuas industrial area, the facility will serve as a key hub for supplying customers with locally manufactured polyurethane systems that offer proven solutions across a wide range of industries, such as e-mobility and white goods, as well as the generation, distribution and storage of energy.
With its new production site in Singapore, Wevo says it is responding to the growing demand for proven polyurethane-based potting compounds, adhesives and sealants, thus becoming a regional manufacturer for the Asia-Pacific market.
“Our engagement in Singapore is a central component of our globalisation and growth strategy. By investing in additional production capacity, we are making a clear commitment to a region that continues to grow dynamically – both economically and technologically,” says Daniel Thomas, CEO of Wevo Chemie.
Drawing on the 80 years of expertise of Wevo-Chemie, the new facility will feature identical production processes and quality standards to those of the company’s headquarters in southern Germany. In addition to a fully integrated production line, the building in the Tuas industrial area also offers ample storage and packaging capacity.
The start of production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. The initial focus will be on the proven polyurethane portfolio, including polyurethane potting compounds, adhesives and sealants for electronics manufacturing – for instance through dispensing under atmospheric pressure or vacuum.
With the new facility in Singapore, Wevo is continuing the systematic expansion of its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2025, a new company was founded in India, enabling fast and targeted customer support on site through the development of its own sales structures. Together with the existing locations in Hong Kong and Guangzhou this enhances local service in line with Wevo’s high standards.
In other news, packaging solutions provider Alpla has officially opened its first base plant in the Philippines, thereby expanding its portfolio in the growth region of Asia-Pacific (APAC). Since summer 2025, the packaging specialist has been manufacturing plastic bottles and closures in Calamba City.
The location of the 4,800 sq m facility is in Filinvest Technology Park (FTP) Ciudad de Calamba. The company started in 2014 as an in-house partner, producing preforms and bottles directly in the filling plants of a global customer in the Philippines.
At the official opening ceremony on 19 March, Alpla COO Walter Ritzer, Ronald Tichelaar (Managing Director APAC) and Christian Kotschy (General Manager ALPLA Philippines), said, ‘This strategically important investment in the Philippines strengthens our presence in the Asia-Pacific region. With our experience and technology, we will establish ourselves in this country as an important partner for all local and international customers.”
At its new plant, Alpla manufactures containers, bottles, and closures for various industries using three technologies: injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM), extrusion blow moulding (EBM) and compression moulding (CM). Its customers include multinational fast-moving consumer goods manufacturers, international beverage companies as well as local producers. The plant is prepared for future capacity expansions. It started with four production lines, and additional five lines can be installed if required.
It currently employs around 40 people in Calamba City. The adaptation of the shell construction began early 2025. The first machines were already running by summer.
