Hasco marks 100 years in mouldmaking; advances digitalisation, mould solutions

Hasco, a German manufacturer specialising in modular mould units and individually designed hot runner systems, celebrates its 100th year in business in 2024.

"This year, our company is celebrating a very special anniversary – Hasco 100. As pioneers in the field of mould making, our aim is to continue setting innovative milestones for the industry over the next 100 years," said Christoph Ehrlich, Hasco’s CEO, adding that the company will hold events throughout the entire anniversary year globally to celebrate the 100-years company history.

A visionary father, an innovator son

Hasco, closely tied to the Hasenclever surname, has a rich history originating in 1924 when Hugo Hasenclever founded it as a wrought iron-working firm. The company evolved into a mould-making enterprise under his visionary leadership, leveraging the potential of Bakelit.

Notably, Rolf Hasenclever, Hugo's son, demonstrated his talent by completing a roly-poly toy during his apprenticeship, impressing his father and becoming a part-owner in 1953. Rolf later pioneered the standard mould unit, employing a modular system patented in 1960 that revolutionised the global mouldmaking industry, says the company.

Pioneering innovations is in Hasco’s DNA

Rolf Hasenclever's vision for the standard mould unit catalogue in 1967 marked a milestone, showcasing Hasco's inventive prowess. As examples:  Hasco introduced the first patented shut-off coupling in 1973 and developed the now-standard date stamp for moulding tools.

Considering these accomplishments, the company emphasises its commitment to detailing additional innovations. Notably, Hasco says it has been a digitalisation trailblazer since 1982, introducing CAD software for digital support in tool and mouldmaking.

Its website in 1998, which included online ordering and building data, was a huge advance into the digital arena, Hasco adds. It continuous its efforts in digital tools and services, such as the recent Mould Track, to simplify, among other reasons, customers' day-to-day work while enhancing product competitiveness.

Global presence and commitment to growth

Hasco has experienced growth and expansion since its inception, starting at its original site on Hohfuhrstraße in Lüdenscheid, Germany, and expanding globally. Currently, with a presence in 35 locations, the company illustrates ongoing development at its Lüdenscheid headquarters through the construction of several new buildings and offices.

Notably, the addition of a new administration office, a just-in-time plate manufacturing plant, and a logistics centre reflects Hasco’s commitment to growth. Moreover, it has formed development partnerships, such as with the firm Jokey from Gummersbach.

Since 1978, Hasco has also established a presence in Asia, including locations such as Singapore, with local sales representatives in China, India, Vietnam, and other countries. Recently, the company inaugurated a large new stock facility in China, in the Shanghai Kunshan area, signaling its intention to progressively enhance its activities in the region.
